he's the only endorser that matters in Republican politics these days, with candidates falling everywhere one another to vie for a sort word. (Days when Trump supported J.D. Vance within the Ohio Senate race, Vance is up with a brand new ad touting that fact.)

The overwhelming image from The NY Times piece -- and from everything else we all know about Trump post-presidency -- is of a king-like figure, enclosed by subjects all positioning themselves to win his favor.
